Cheap flights to/from/in New Zealand
Want to fly for $1? It is possible. Learn how to find cheap flights to, from, and within New Zealand.
Unlike some other major airlines, Air New Zealand allows anyone from anywhere in the world to book flights online. This means that even if you live outside of New Zealand you can book a domestic flight from for example Auckland to Christchurch.
If you’re looking for cheap flights with Air New Zealand, keep an eye out for the deals listed on their grabaseat web site. Most of the flights listed there are domestic flights, but they do occasionally list a few international flights to Australia and Asia.
Have you ever flown for $1 from Auckland to Dunedin? That’s as low as grabaseat goes. Those seats go fast, though, so you have to be quick to book. The best way not to miss out on one of those great deals is to follow @grabaseat on Twitter or subscribe to the RSS feed of grabaseat.
I love flying with Air New Zealand especially on the long-haul flights over the Pacific. The food is great and the service has always been good in my experience, so I’d definitely recommend flying with Air New Zealand.
Air New Zealand is not always the cheapest air carrier here in New Zealand, though, but also keep in mind that you generally get what you pay for.
Jet Star came onto the scene not too long ago, but besides offering cheap flights, their flight delays have not gone unnoticed. Another thing that hasn’t gone unnoticed is the baggage restrictions they put on the ticket you purchase. I have never flown with Jet Star, but if you decide to fly with them, I’d recommend you read the fine print to avoid extra charges and disappointments.
Another air carrier that offers cheap flights in New Zealand is Pacific Blue. I haven’t heard much about them in the past few months or year, but perhaps that’s because of all of the news surrounding Jet Star. I’ve also never flown with Pacific Blue, but if you have, I’d love to hear about your experience with this airline.
