As I mentioned in previous articles, Wanaka is the perfect destination if you want to experience what autumn has got to offer in New Zealand.
Lake Wanaka is dotted with yellow trees in autumn, and Wanaka itself is not too far away from other locations where you can experience and see more fall foliage, such as Queenstown, Arrowtown, and Central Otago. These locations are all included in the top 5 best places to visit to see autumn colours in New Zealand.
Besides the Matukituki River, you can also find good fall foliage around Glendhu Bay, which is shown in the video above. Both the Matukituki River and Glendhu Bay can be seen from Mount Roy in Wanaka.
The video of Glendhu Bay shown below was shot on a beautiful autumn day. You’ll see shots of Glendhu Bay from early in the morning to late in the afternoon, and hear the birds singing especially in the early morning hours. Listen carefully, and you’ll also be reminded once again that we aren’t far away from farmland.
This video radiates tranquility and you’ll even get to see the peak of Mount Aspiring from Glendhu Bay in Wanaka. Enjoy it… I know I did when I spent several hours around Glendhu Bay and Lake Wanaka on that day.
